Distinctive Design Aesthetics
A DDC aesthetic is unique in the industry; in fact it is what has generated the buzz around our company. People remember a DDC design or product when they see it. We believe that it is our approach to design, our process that gives us our distinctive physical qualities.
DDC believes that an aesthetic is object specific and content driven, a result of exploration and distillation of characters of the object itself that materialize throughout the process of design. With this statement, we realize that the aesthetics of one object will not be
applicable to another without readjustments. This allows us to treat every project and client as unique and lends each end product a
distinctive edge. Whether it is a hotel, a restaurant, a residence or a product of industrial design, the focus will be wholly unique.
DDC believes in the power of composition; in design relativity. We believe that the relationship between objects or design gestures is governed by an unforeseen formula, a system of objects. It is the orchestration of contrasts of solids and voids, darkness and brightness, small and large in a delicate balancing act. With the addition of subtraction of elements, the formula changes. The equilibrium or each composition is part of an aesthetic that we strive to achieve. For each client we look at these needs and balances to help guide us through the design process.
DDC believes in simplified design gestures, Our goal is to produce the most logical design gestures that are a direct reflection of the process, cut down from excess yet not confined to the rigidity of minimalism. We want our client’s brand and product to emerge in simplicity. We don’t want to overcomplicate it with unnecessary details. When the design is clean and supportive, the end product or element is allowed to shine.
DDC respects raw materials including their inherent characters and properties. We take delight in in the flexibility of plastic, the fluidity of fabric, the rigidity of cardboard, the lightness of aluminum, the strength of steel. We firmly believe that working with, instead of defying the nature of materials will strengthen the final aesthetic.
DDC values the structural and technical aspects of design. We bring this out as part of our aesthetic by celebrating joineries, connections and systems. We see this as part of our effort to create an aesthetic that is truthful and logical.
Our unique cross-disciplinary approach to design lends itself to our signature aesthetic where the possibilities for our clients are endless.
